Plan your Lentil Fest experience!

A time-honored tradition that invites youth ambassadors to represent the Festival, Palouse region and its pulse industry!

Coronation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 

in Reaney Park on the Lentil Fest Stage at 12:40 p.m.

Parents or legal guardians must complete this application form by Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Participants must be entering grades 1-6 and live in Whitman or Latah County. At the coronation, Lil' Lentil Royalty candidates will be asked to answer questions about why they love lentils and what they love about living on the Palouse. 

One participant will be crowned Lil' Lentil King and one participant will be crowned Lil' Lentil Queen. Each member of the royal court will receive a crown and sash provided by the National Lentil Festival. 

Lil' Lentil Royalty Responsibilities:

The selected Lil' Lentil King and Queen will serve as youth ambassadors for the National Lentil Festival and the Palouse region for one year. Royalty may be invited to represent the region and its pulse industry at community events, local luncheons and appearances aboard the Pullman community parade vehicle and the Lentil Express. 

Parents or legal guardians are expected to assist in coordinating royalty events and activities. Activities are selected at the discretion of the National Lentil Festival.

HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT

The below signed agrees to hold indemnity, and harmless and defend any action against the National Lentil Festival, the City of Pullman, Washington State University, Visit Pullman, and the Pullman Chamber of Commerce from and against all liabilities whatsoever arising out of participating in the 2026 National Lentil Festival Lil’ Lentil Royalty Contest.

Photo, Video, and Public Appearance Release

By signing this form on behalf of my child, I acknowledge and agree that photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, and other likenesses of my child may be used by the Festival for promotional, educational, and marketing purposes. Such use may include, but is not limited to, printed materials, advertising and promotional publications, the Festival website, social media platforms, news releases, and other Festival-related communications.

I understand that these materials may be used without further notice or compensation and that no royalties, fees, or other payments will be owed as a result of such use.

I further understand that participation as Festival Royalty may include appearances as a public representative of the Festival at community events, parades, ceremonies, and related activities, which may occasionally require light public speaking and interaction with the public.

9 a.m. - 6 p.m. - 3-on-3 Hoop Classic

11:00 a.m. - WSECU Grand Parade

12 p.m. - Festival Opens at Reaney Park!

12 - 6 p.m. - Harvest Hills Lil Lentil Land Activities, including the SEL Science Tent and special appearances by "The Pulse Pals" mascots (Tase T. Lentil, Chel C. Chickpea & Dan D. Pea)

12 - 9 p.m. - All vendors, nonprofit booths and Beer & Wine Garden operate

12:10 p.m. - Opening Performances from the WSU Marching Band, Crimson Girls & Butch T. Cougar

12:20 p.m. - WSU and Special Olympics Athletes Autograph-Signing 

12:40 p.m. - Lil Lentil Royalty Coronation

1:10 p.m. - Library Storytime

1:45 p.m. - USA Pulses Family of the Year and Expert Panel

2:45 - 5 p.m. - Cooking Demos ft. Chefs Jeremy Taisey, Lauren Chandler & Hawa Hassan

5 - 8 p.m. - Free Lentil Chili from "The World's Largest Lentil Chili Bowl"

5:30 - 9 p.m. - Concert ft. Monopines, Abbie Callahan & Debbii Dawson

9 p.m. - Festival Closes

A FREE service courtesy of Pullman Transit with support from Living Faith Fellowship, Walmart and Safeway!
 

While there will be parking closer to Reaney Park, we encourage visitors to consider using our dedicated Pullman Transit route or walking to help reduce traffic congestion and minimize environmental impact.
